Job Description
The GIS Specialist I will assist the GIS Manager in the development of various mapping projects throughout Pennsylvania and nationwide. The GIS Specialist I pre-plans mapping fieldwork; works with data downloads, conversions and computations; integrates data into GIS; prepares maps; and performs spatial analysis. This individual will need to be a team player, as well as a mentor to staff in developing a GIS and GPS knowledge base, for a large consulting civil engineering firm.
Required Experience
The GIS Specialist I is required to hold a Bachelors degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, GPS, planning, or related field; and 2-5 years experience with GIS. Extensive knowledge and experience with ESRIs ArcGIS, ArcInfo, and ArcView is required; experience with customized programming and ArcGIS Server implementation and development, ArcPad, ArcIMS, Spatial Analysis, 3-D Analyst, Pathfinder Office, TerraSync, AutoCAD Civil3D is a plus. The GIS Specialist I possesses excellent technical skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills and has the ability to assist with client relations and marketing activities. Experience with the following is a plus, but NOT required: Trimble Products; GPS; Photogrammetry; knowledge of various federal, state and local GIS data and databases. Industry experience in the Oil and Gas, Water and Energy and/or Environmental is a plus. Field work and travel may be required to job sites, meetings, and regional offices and may require overnight stays. The GIS Specialist I is required to have the legal right to work in the U.S.
