Overview:
The purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership to GIS users, provide project implementation services, provide GIS technical support services, coordinate project work for other departments, and perform troubleshooting on custom application issues. In addition this position will manage the ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabase . Proven experience utilizing ArcGIS Desktop, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, and project management skills are desired. Experience working with Hansen or another Asset/Work Management System in conjunction with ArcGIS would be helpful.
The individual should be self motivated with a keen attention to detail and possess problem-solving skills. Other duties include writing/testing scripts, guarantying quality assurance, writing project documentation, testing mobile applications, and developing custom web applications using ArcGIS Server.
Responsibilities:
Helps manage ArcSDE for SQL Server. This includes loading raster and vector data, creating new database objects, maintaining the database schema, compressing the database, and putting together a Database Maintenance Plan.
Creates custom web and mobile applications using ArcGIS Server.
Utilizes the Network Analyst and 3D Analyst extensions for specific projects.
Maintains ArcSDE feature classes and metadata.
Generates custom maps and reports in ArcMap.
Provides training and support to GIS end users.
Evaluates software that could be beneficial to GIS growth and productivity.
Assists in budget preparation by making recommendations for software, hardware, and services related to GIS.
Assists in emergency response/disaster recovery projects.
Qualifications:
Work requires broad knowledge in a general profession or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Over three years up to and including five years.
Work requires functioning as a lead worker performing essentially the same work as those directed, and includes overseeing work quality, training, instructing, and scheduling work.
Decisions regarding implementation of policies may be made. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations.
Receives General Direction: The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance is reviewed periodically.
Advanced: Work requires advanced skills and knowledge of the ESRI software suite.
Assist GIS Manager when called upon.
Advanced - Ability to read and understand technical documentation. Ordinarily, such education is obtained at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Intermediate - Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. A good understanding of statistics would be helpful. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Intermediate - Ability to write standard operating procedures and compose emails related to projects. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Valid driver's license.
Intermediate - Work requires project management, delivering results across a timeline, within budget.
