JOB SUMMARY:

Mount Rainier National Park will be filling a Cartographic Technician GS-1371-05 position.

Incumbent will perform Geographic Information System (GIS) work under the supervision of the park's GIS Specialist.

 

This is a TEMPORARY position/appointment not to exceed 6 months (1,039 hours) in a service year. Approximate dates of employment are early February, 2012. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availabillity and funding.

 

More positions may be filled using this announcement if additional candidate(s) are requested from the selecting official(s).

Duty station location is Longmire, Washington.

Incumbents will input spatial and non-spatial digital data to draft format, field compilation, CAD or GIS and perform necessary and proper verification and checking procedures, plot data for map file construction, operate, update and assist in maintaining CAD/GIS equipment and peripherals, maintain GIS files and related databases, prepare and maintain digital and hard copy versions of data histories (metadata) and data dictionaries, verify and/or establish data site locations through on-site inspections. Visit field sites to gather information under supervisor's direction.
