GIS TECHNICIAN/ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST POSITION - Brea
Wilson Construction has an immediate opening in the Environmental Division at our Branch Office in Brea, CA for a self-motivated GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Technician/Environmental Specialist with a positive, team-oriented outlook.
The GIS Technician/Environmental Specialist functions as an experienced professional who will spend approximately half-time dedicated to preparing GIS maps in support of a large, complex transmission line construction project, and half-time dedicated to various environmental specialist activities primarily involving construction permitting support. This is an office position that requires working out of our Brea, CA office.
Essential job duties will include the following:
Generate GIS maps and data to support project field activities;
Prepare construction variance documents, track submittals, and distribute field change information to project managers;
Use GIS to support ongoing project planning, scheduling, and analysis;
Attend meetings and provide technical GIS analysis to review project planning decisions;
Prepare additional documents, spreadsheets, and analysis as requested by project managers; and
Perform other environmental compliance related duties as assigned by the project environmental managers and the Project Manager.
Requirements:
2-5 years of work experience with GIS ArcMap 10 preferably in a construction, planning/design, or environmental compliance setting;
Bachelor’s degree or GIS Certificate in related field;
Preference for candidates with knowledge of and familiarity with functionality of construction jobsites and reading plans;
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned tasks;
Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of staff and personality types;
Available to work up to 50 hours per week;
Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Office;
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license; and
A basic proficiency test of ArcMap 10 will be required of candidates as part of the evaluation/interview process.
Salary:
