GIS Analyst Job Description

Job Summary

•Responsible for the completion of Engineering designs and cost estimates using Laclede’s Geographical Information System (GIS) as well as performing analysis and updates to the GIS to maintain Laclede’s mapping records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

•Give guidance to GIS Specialists or completes independently work design and estimating for projects using the GIS for relay, reinforcement, main extension and relocation work orders.
•Represents Engineering at internal and external project meetings as required.
•Distribute and approve the requests for the acquisition and release of easements as well as the vacation of rights-of-way.
•Assists in the evaluation of hardware and software for GIS Systems.
•Performs final quality checks of GIS versioned data before it is posted to the GIS.
•Implement and train Engineering staff on new work processes for the GIS mapping system.
•Distribute and update the maps for other departments of the company as requested.
•Editing of map features and its correlating attribute data in the GIS.
•Editing and updating of the GIS construction designs and versions.
•Perform a preliminary review of development plans and interfaces with the customer.
•Field visits to jobsites to determine requirements for new construction service and main work.
•Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

•One to three years of gas industry or GIS experience
•Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geoscience, Cartography, GIS or related field.

•Ability to demonstrate and master the core and job category competencies applicable for this role within the organization

•Ability to learn Laclede’s distribution system
•Knowledge of drafting procedures
•Knowledge of the work order process
•Knowledge of easements
•Ability to learn the Company’s union contract agreement
•Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
•Ability to read and interpret easements
•Ability to use ArcGIS software
•Ability to use CAD software and interpret CAD drawings


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

•Appropriately licensed to operate a motor vehicle.
